The end of the year is always a great time for charities to collect donations from those of us who feel charitable and helpful at this time of year. When Christmas rolls around, it always seems to highlight the plight of those who are less fortunate and that’s why one of the most popular days for giving to charity is actually dubbed ‘Giving Tuesday’ and is the Tuesday after US Thanksgiving. While this year’s may be past, there’s never been a better time to get ready for next year’s event!
Make A Plan To Get Involved
Being prepared is the best way to get the most out of an event like Giving Tuesday. Set a goal and make a task list and get ready ahead of time to maximise your potential donations
Drive Email Campaigns
Segment your email campaign so that you target past donors in a more personalised manner. Studies show a huge jump in repeat donations when email campaigns are tailored to specific groups of people. Additionally, one-third of donations come from email campaigns, so this is a huge potential pot you can easily access through the use of a email campaign.
Awareness is key to helping your potential donors know about the event. Send an email in advance announcing your participation. Perhaps engage the audience with a poll asking how likely they are to give and then use this information to drive your donation campaign.
Check In With Your Existing Givers
Retaining existing donors is key when it comes to repeat donations. Check in with them periodically to engage them and remind them that you’re around and will be participating in the event.
Engage Your Volunteer Base
Studies have shown that volunteers are more likely to give than non-volunteers. Engage your volunteers by sending tailored emails specifically to them and perhaps promote a special event for volunteers only to support Giving Tuesday.
Hopefully with these handy tips and suggestions your next Giving Tuesday event will be better than ever!
